Breast Reconstruction

For women fighting breast cancer, we offer several techniques for breast reconstruction after mastectomy (removal of the breast).  Your reconstruction can be done immediately, at the time of your mastectomy, or in a delayed fashion, months or years after a mastectomy, chemotherapy and/or radiation.  The decision of which technique of breast reconstruction you can undergo is a decision based on your preference and your surgeon’s recommendations.  All types of breast reconstruction, regardless of technique require 3-4 stages. This will be explained in more detail by Dr. Kaplan during your consultation.

Body Contouring

After patients have lost weight, either through surgery or diet alone, they sometimes have excess skin. As we age, we lose elastin in our skin and this results in a decreased ability of our skin to “recoil” and tighten up to fit our new “inner self”.  Below are pictures of patients that have undergone body contouring, a general term that refers to liposuction, tummy tucks, body lifts, arm lifts or any other lift to remove the excess skin after massive weight loss.

Permanent Lip Augmentation

Rather than injections to the lips 1-2 times per year, the Center for Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery (CRCS) now offers permanent silicone lip implants. This is a procedure that can be done in the office in 15 minutes under local anesthesia. In the pictures below, of an actual CRCS patient, notice how the implants have helped to camouflage a pre-existing scar to the patient’s left upper lip and it reduces the wrinkles in the lips themselves!
