Jonathan Kaplan MD, MPH

Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Jonathan L. Kaplan, MD, leads the Center’s skilled team of nurses, aestheticians and technical personnel. Originally from Alexandria, Louisiana, Dr. Kaplan attended medical school and finished his residency in general surgery at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed a plastic surgery fellowship at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.

Dr. Kaplan has experience in procedures such as breast reconstruction, as well as common and complex surgeries for problems resulting from acquired deformities. He is also fully trained in the latest surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Kaplan performs most minor procedures in his office. However, when specific surgical procedures require special resources, he will utilize one of Our Lady of the Lake’s associated facilities. Most cosmetic procedures are performed at the Lake Surgery Center and body contouring procedures that may require an overnight stay will be performed at Surgical Specialty Center.  Most of our breast reconstruction utilizing the DIEP flap will be performed at Woman’s Hospital.
